DriPADs are the Most Cost Effective Fluid Solution
DriPADs provide high capacity absorption and can replace 10 to 15 chux pads, or several laundered pads, when managing fluids in the care setting. When there are liters of irrigation fluid, incontinence, birthing fluids, or bleeding, DriPADs are the most cost effective absorbent system available to you. DriPADs come in four sizes – a 9”x9” (one pint), 23”x20” (two quarts), 23”32” (three quarts), and 23”x60” (one and a half gallons). That means you have the right size for the fluid problem you face. It also means COST EFFECTIVE!
One 23”x20” DriPAD can save you from $2.50 vs. chux to $5.00 vs. laundered pads
One 23”x32” DriPAD can save you from $3.75 to $7.35 vs. chux or laundered pads
Other Advantages of DriPAD vs. “chux”:
- One DriPAD vs. many chux is just that much easier for you.
- 10 to 15 pieces of plastic go into landfill, vs. just one from the DriPAD.
- DriPADs solidify the fluids - “Chux” do not lock in the fluids, so they drip everywhere. That means DriPADs give you:
- Less clean-up time in the procedure room
- Better room utilization
- Less exposure of personnel to body fluids
- Better control of cross-contamination of nosocomial pathogens in care areas
- DriPADs have an anti-microbial inside, “chux” do not:
- Anti-microbial pads are safer because they prevent the build-up of pathogens in the care environment.
- DriPADs are the only procedure pad on the market with an anti-microbial.
- DriPADs have a Stay-Put sticky back. Chux slip all over and bunch-up under patients.
- DriPADs come in four different sizes – use our 9”x9” DriPAD as a “spill kit in a pad”.
Advantages of DriPADs vs. Reusable Pads
- Laundered pads/blankets are difficult to clean, and often show blood stains.
- They are often thrown out because they are “just too gross” – ask your materials manager, “What is your blanket budget each year”?
- DriPADs solidify the fluids. Reusables do not lock in the fluids, and leakage and dripping is a concern.
- Laundered pads/blankets do not have an anti-microbial.
- DriPADs have a Stay-Put Bio-barrier back. Laundered items slide around and soak through to contaminate the surface beneath them.

Labor and Delivery
DriPADs provide high performance absorption during birthing, either by c-section, or when you break the water in a vaginal birth. One 23”x32” DriPAD will absorb all of the birthing fluids you normally encounter. L&D nurses also prescribe the 23”20” DriPAD for pre- and post-partum leakage for two key reasons – DriPADs will absorb plenty of fluids if they need to, and because there is an anti-microbial in the core of the DriPAD that controls the growth of bacteria in the pad. No other pads have this feature.
When birthing fluids overwhelm inferior absorption of chux pads, reach for the Purple Pad….it's a cost-effective DriPAD from Quellent!
Emergency Room
DriPADs provide a solution to the problem of copious saline irrigation in the ER. One DriPAD will absorb it all at the source, before fluids run off on the floor, or into the sheets on the gurney. When you are faced with a bleeder, a puddle on the floor, a bandage soaking through, or uncontrolled incontinence on the mid-night shift, DriPADs are the high performance pad you need to manage the fluids in difficult care situations. They improve worker safety as they sequester these often unknown and potentially infectious fluids in the core matrix of the pad, and make Red Bag disposal easier. They also improve safety in the care environment by providing care givers the ability to quickly remove spills and avoid contamination of the equipment. DriPADs are either placed under a patient or an extremity, on the physicians lap, or even on the floor. DriPAD gurney sizes are available for patient transport.
When fluids run uncontrolled in your ER, reach for the Purple Pad….it's a high performance DriPAD from Quellent!
Operating Room
Even in the highly controlled environment of the Operating Room, blood, saline and endoscopy lines can get out of control - and when they do, you need the superior power of DriPADs to regain control. That's when you pull out the DriPADs - they can absorb volumes of fluid, and trap the pathogens in the fluids within the core of the pad. Surgeons will often use them on their lap during a vaginal hysterectomy, as an additional barrier to prevent gown soak through, or to control fluids that may leak during a transurethral resection, or arthroscopy. They can also be placed in basins to stabilize the fluids during disposal of the contents.
When you need to regain control, you need to reach for the Purple Pad from Quellent – keep DriPADs handy in your OR cabinets!
ICU, Wound Management and Burn Care
Debridement, a bit of scrubbing and irrigation - it all adds up to quite a mess to control at bedside or in the procedure room! Do you also wonder what kinds of nosocomial microbes are multiplying in that dead tissue? DriPADs will help you manage the mess and the microbes. DriPADs are high performance disposable absorptive devices - they absorb copious amounts of blood and irrigating fluids, and can be easily folded up to trap tissue debris and avoid dripping to dramatically reduce the infectious risk as the pads are disposed of.
Dressing changes on your patients with a DriPAD underneath will help you keep the sheets dry, and save you the time of a linen change every time you wash down the wound.
Weeping wounds that overwhelm the dressing and contaminate the bed sheets are best managed with a DriPAD. As an important added benefit, the absorption core contains an EPA registered Antimicrobial Agent to control bacteria and odors that so often accompany these types of situations. This is the power of Quellent's high performance super absorbent technology, on the inside of every DriPAD.
When you need to manage the mess and the microbes, you need to reach for the Purple Pad from Quellent – it’s the nurses’ best friend, the DriPAD.
Benefits to Your Hospital
Quellent's disposable CareGiver DriPADs are designed to play an integral role in a hospital's continuing struggle to run efficiently and cost effectively, while maintaining a clean health care environment for the patients, and a safe one for its workers. Here's how DriPADs can help:
- Efficiency - absorbing the fluids at their source, before they drip on equipment or run along the floor, saves time - the time it takes to get housekeeping to mop the floor, or the time it takes an orderly to clean the equipment.
- Cost Effective vs. Reusables - Laundry is expensive, and paid by weight, wet or dry. Each liter of saline weighs 2.2 lbs. Quellent's Utility DriPAD can absorb more than a liter of saline - that's a cost advantage before you even consider the benefits!
- Cost Effective vs. Disposables - When there is a spill, workers often grab whatever is available to soak it up - gauze pads, Kerlix, lap pads, almost anything. They are not thinking of, and sometimes can't know, what the absorption capacity or the cost of the item is. If you do the math, you will find that DriPADs are the most cost effective absorbent available to your hospital, liter for liter!
- Clean Environment - DriPADs sequester the nosocomial pathogens in all the fluids they absorb - that's cleaner. When DriPADs are kept handy in patient care areas, any spill is short-lived. Why wait a half an hour for housekeeping to arrive - DriPAD it first, and stop it before it becomes a mess.
- Safer Infection Control Environment - You've probably seen one of your colleagues throw a blanket on a spill of blood and saline, stir it around on the floor, and then gather it all up in their arms, and carry it to a hamper. How safe is that? DriPADs can be neatly folded up and tossed in the waste - they hold large quantities of fluids in a small area, so they are easier and safer to handle. Plus, the absorption core contains an EPA registered Antimicrobial Agent to control bacteria and odors in the pads to further enhance safety.
- Safer Spill Environment - When DriPADs are in the care environment, spills get absorbed quickly and effectively - workers won't be at risk to slip and fall before housekeeping arrives.
Product Specifications: CareGiver DriPADs are clean but not sterile, and are packaged for use in patient care areas of the hospital or chronic care facility. They are designed with Quellent's Rapid Uptake liner on one side, and a Non-Skid Fluid Barrier on the other side. You will feel confident in knowing that Quellent's high performance absorption technology is on the inside of every CareGiver DriPAD, and its fluid barrier is in between the care giver and the pathogens inside.
